Carpedia International was founded in 1994 by Peter Follows and Greg Tremblay. Since that time the company has worked around the globe with some of the most successful companies in the world. It has conducted over 1000 projects on five continents and become a critical tool for discerning performance-minded executives.

 Why was Carpedia started?

The founders recognized that many Executives had a clear idea of where they wanted to be, or where they needed to be, in terms of performance and profitability. The problem was getting an organization to that higher level of performance in a reasonable time period. Clients generally wanted support in one, or more, of three areas:

  1. Help focus the company for growth
  2. Reduce operating costs
  3. Reduce capital expenses

Often there is no shortage of ideas within companies on how to improve. Achieving and sustaining higher levels of improvement, however, is very difficult. This is because actually communicating ideas throughout an organization, getting people to work across functions, physically changing processes and systems, and modifying the skills and behaviors of employees and managers is time-consuming and complicated.  Executives and managers often lack the necessary time and resources to do this.

To solve this problem, Carpedia was created as a resource to help executives implement complex performance improvement programs.

There are three key aspects of Carpedia’s solution that differentiates the company from other options:

  1. They implement. The company works directly with managers to implement changes; they do not write a manual of recommendations leaving the burden of implementation to management.
  2. They get real results. Results are measured in real time, in the client’s financial statements, not “projected”.

In 2015, the company decided to carve out hospitality from the parent Carpedia International, due to strategic differences in channels and focus. Carpedia International would continue to take a broad market sector focus while Carpedia Hospitality would target only hospitality-related industries (e.g. Hotels, Casinos, Entertainment and events and Cruise ships).
