When a performance improvement initiative gets the initial green light, much of the focus is on expected results and return on the project investment.
But as the initiative goes on, and particularly if it is successful, the focus always turns to how well the results will be sustained.
Sustainability is the holy grail of performance improvement. One key to achieving it is to remember that improvement comes from three sources: process; management systems; and management behavioral changes.
